The IT Guy app

The IT Guy is an app for organizing practical IT field work: clients, sites, networks, devices, credentials, tasks, finance records, registers, attachments, and related activity.

Local and offline data

In Guest/local mode, app data is stored on the device. The app can be useful without requiring sign-in or online sync.

Local data may remain on the device until it is deleted inside the app, the app is uninstalled, or app data is cleared from Android settings.

Optional online account and sync

If you create or sign in to an online account, the app can sync supported workspace data and enable personal or shared online workspaces, roles, and permissions.

Online sync is optional. Some data may be kept local-only when sync limits apply or when you choose not to use online features.

Service providers

When you use online features such as account sign-in, sync, online workspaces, shared workspaces, storage, or account management, The IT Guy uses Supabase-backed backend services to operate those features.

These providers process data only as needed to provide the app services, maintain security, and support account and sync functionality.

Data types handled by the app

The app may handle clients, locations, LANs, devices/items, tasks, credentials metadata, finance records, registers, attachments, workspaces, settings, profile/account data, and local activity.

Device permissions

The IT Guy may request certain device permissions only when needed for app features, including:

• Notifications: for task reminders, important alerts, and app announcements.
• Exact alarm or reminder scheduling access: on Android versions that require it for precise reminder timing.
• Camera: for scanning, capturing images, or attaching photos when you choose those actions.
• Files, photos, or document access: for attachments, backup/export files, import/restore files, and related document actions.
• Location: only if you choose a feature that uses current location for client, site, location records, or related field work.

Permission availability and wording may depend on Android version and device settings. Denying a permission may limit the related feature, but the app should continue to work where possible.

Credentials and passphrases

Credential secrets are encrypted according to the app's credential protection design. Credential secret fields are stored and synced as opaque ciphertext where sync applies.

Users are responsible for safeguarding credential passphrases. Losing a required passphrase may prevent access to protected credential data. The IT Guy cannot recover forgotten custom credential passphrases.

Export files

Export files are password-protected. Users are responsible for keeping export files and export passwords safe.

The IT Guy cannot recover forgotten export passwords or custom credential passphrases.

Data selling and support diagnostics

We do not sell user data.

Support diagnostics, if shared by the user, may contain sensitive app, device, or sync behavior and should be handled carefully. Do not send credential secrets, export passwords, credential passphrases, private client passwords, or other sensitive secrets in support messages.

Data retention and deletion

Local/offline data normally remains on the user's device until the user deletes it inside the app, clears app data, or uninstalls the app.

Online account data is retained while the account exists. When the user uses the in-app Delete Account flow, The IT Guy deletes the user's online account and associated online app data according to the implemented deletion process, as if the online account no longer exists. After a successful in-app deletion, the app wipes local cache and notifications on that device.

If deletion is requested outside the app by email, The IT Guy can process online account deletion after review, but cannot remotely erase local/offline data that remains on a user's device. That local data may remain until deleted inside the app, cleared from Android app settings, or removed by uninstalling the app.

Some limited records may be retained only if required for security, abuse prevention, legal, billing, dispute handling, or operational reasons. Where such retention applies, it is limited to what is necessary.
